Lower Mainland Trail Closures Due to COVID-19

Late last week, the District of North Vancouver announced the temporary closure of the Quarry Rock trail and the Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge. Since then, several other municipalities and BC Hydro have followed suit with their own trail closures or implemented changes to accommodate social distancing.

Below is a list of known closures to popular Metro Vancouver, Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley area hiking trails or parks:

  • Buntzen Lake (all facilities are closed including parking lots)
  • Coquitlam Crunch (unidirectional, one side up and one down)
  • Grouse Grind closed (including the Skyride)
  • Lafarge Lake Loop (unidirectional)
  • Lower Seymour Conservation Trail (limited vehicle access)
  • Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge closed (connects portions of the Baden Powell and Lynn Valley Link trails)
  • Quarry Rock closed
  • Reservoir Trail at Hayward Lake closed
  • Sasamat Lake Floatwalk closed (connecting east and west ends of the lake loop trail)
  • Stawamus Chief closed -- all trails

The following parking lots are closed to discourage visitors:
  • Whytecliff Park, West Vancouver
  • Whyte Lake, West Vancouver
  • Lighthouse Park, West Vancouver
  • Brea Island Regional Park, Langley
  • Boundary Bay Regional Park, Delta
  • Deas Island Regional Park, Ladner

The following provincial parks and all trails are completely closed: 
  • Murrin Provincial Park, Brittania Beach
  • Chilliwack Lake Provincial Park
  • Elk Falls Provincial Park, Chilliwack
  • Golden Ears Provincial Park, Maple Ridge 
  • Shannon Falls Provincial Park, Sea-to-Sky
  • Porteau Cove Provincial Park, Sea-to-Sky
  • Stawamus Chief, Sea-to-Sky
The following trails are now closed or access has changed:
  1. High Knoll Trail, Minnekhada closed
  2. Low Knoll Trail, Minnekhada closed
