The seawall was originally built to prevent erosion into the waters surrounding Stanley Park in 1918. Access to the Stanley Park seawall also available at the North end of Beach Ave. Frequent wind storms cause parts of the seawall to be closed temporarily. The total distance of the entire downtown Vancouver seawall is 22 km. The Stanley Park portion is 8.0 km although some guides may measure slightly longer depending on where they mark the trailhead. A bicycle can be used on this trail. This trail may be equipped with restrooms.
