The sun is shining and it's warming up outside around Vancouver. Time to fit in some great local hiking trails. Considering the many fantastic options from epic mountain hikes to relaxing trails by the ocean we had a hard time rounding it down -- nevertheless here is our Top 5 trails to hike on the North Shore this Spring.. (in no specific order)

Lynn Peak trail

1. Lynn Peak Trail
Heavy winter weather and the fact that much of the trail is based within a dry creek means now is the best time to experience Lynn Peak. Lots of tree cover keeps the sun from glaring down.

2. Baden Powell Trail
The Baden Powell trail is one of the few unique trails out there where off and on privileges are possible. Starting in Horseshoe Bay and ending in Deep Cove, this trail spans the entire North Shore. Since access points are available all throughout, you have the option of trying it out without the whole 42 km commitment. See the full trail map by clicking the link.

3. Deek's Lake Trail
Look up, way up. This trail starts at Highway 99 just north of Lions Bay on the way to Squamish and Whistler and rises about 1000 meters in 4.5 km. Not as intense as the Grouse Grind but will definitely work those thighs.

4. Grouse Grind
Okay, so this trail isn't even open yet. Typically open from late Spring to mid-Fall, the Grouse Grind is an exceptional way to see the city and experience an intense, grueling workout. This trail isn't the casual stroll type.

5. Hollyburn Peak Trail
Alright, I realize this isn't really a Spring trail. It is on the list because if you have looked up at the North Shore mountains recently, you have likely noticed a light dusting of beautiful white snow. Typically, when you can see snow, the Hollyburn Peak Winter Trail will be a snowshoeing option. It is an all season trail so pack your snowshoes and be ready for a rewarding hike!
