The Grouse Grind is stairs from the beginning all the way to the end. Generally pretty busy with all levels of Hikers and tourist walkers. A great climb at any pace. Must do for Vancouverites.

You have to do the Grind at least once in your life. It's a fun challenge and do not be daunted by things you have heard about it. Some people are more adaptable to a continuous uphill slog, while other people may be super sporty but not used to non-horizonal sports. Case in point; I took a fitness instructor who is over 10 years my junior up the Grind and I handily beat her. Even though she is more fit overall than I am, she is not much of a hiker. I wouldn't say the Grind is "fun" but it is just a must-do if you live here. The feeling you have when you reach the top is unbeatable.

Great hike but the 'trail highway' atmosphere ruins it for me . Too many people and their egos ... I'll stick to the trail-less-travelled.

See how nature, trees, flowers, grass grows in silence. See the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence. We need silence to be able to touch souls. -- Mother Teresa
