Trail Description
Most guides suggest the Buntzen Lake trail takes 2-4 hours to hike. At a steady hiking pace, two hours should be typical. In the past, the only way to cross the south end of Buntzen Lake was via a floating bridge that was often flooded. That resulted in a long detour on to Sunnyside Road. The floating bridge has been replaced by a fixed weather proof structure.
During the warmer months, Buntzen Lake becomes quite popular due to it's vicinity to Port Moody and Coquitlam. Arrive early, or be prepared to be turned away if the parking lot is full. Alternative areas nearby include Sasamat Lake or Belcarra/Bedwell Bay.
